Bukid Outdoor Shop started out with a simple dream; to promote mountaineering as a wholesome sport and to spearhead environmental awareness through these activities. The store opened in 1992 with a small shop and have since grown in scale and scope.

Today Bukid Outdoor Shop is the primary outdoor shop in the region. The store now boasts an artificial indoor rock climbing wall and offers not only mountaineering but a wide range of outdoor activities namely: Rock climbing, caving, Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Surfing and Multi Day Adventure racing. Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) is also offered aside from trainings on Caving Skills and Techniques, Single Rope Technique (SRT), High Angle Rescue, Surfing, Kayaking Skills, Team Building and Outdoor Guide Ship Training.

Aside from outdoor activities, Bukid Outdoor Shop also spearheads civic projects such as “Beachurero”, a yearly beach clean-up project which has been conducted since 1996, School based lectures on environmental subjects and a yearly 2 day medical mission to remote barangays in Leyte and Samar. All these have been achieved through steadfastness, dedication to an ideal, competence and pride.

Bukid Outdoor Shop is a duly licensed and registered business entity and exclusive dealer of all HABAGAT products with a branch in Maasin City,Southern Leyte and Sub-Dealers throughout region 8. It is also a proud and active member of the Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines, Inc.(MFPI), The Sport Climbing Associatioin of the Philippines, Inc. (SCAPI), the Philippine Cave Guides Association, Inc. (PCGA) and the Philippine Speleological Society, Inc. (PSS)

Bukid Outdoor Shop is staffed by select members of the Nature Unlimited, Leyte Outdoor Club, Inc. (NULOC) a locally based environmental and mountaineering group. All are outdoors men and are competent in one field or another.
